The dedication of the Herman A. Moore Complex was held on Sunday, May 31, 2026.  The complex is located at 31 S. Second Avenue.  This complex has been made possible through the collaboration of the Merchants and Citizens Bank and the Development Authority of Telfair County.  The Merchants and Citizens Bank donated the building to the Development Authority as a gesture of goodwill to Telfair County.  The Development Authority did extensive renovations that were strategically done to provide a building that all of Telfair County could be proud of. The building has been revitalized and is being used as a venue to host meetings of the Authorities of the County, economic development, training, job fairs, and for a place to promote the county in a positive manner.  The vision and purpose of this facility is not just to honor the past but to use these remembrances and accomplishments to move forward on a path of growth.  Even during the renovation process, the complex has been used regularly to conduct the different authorities’ meetings and as a place to meet with parties interested in locating in Telfair County.

Today the complex reflects the history of the county, projects that have been undertaken by the Development Authority, points of interest in the county, our beautiful educational facilities, and the strong athletic program available for our children.

The dedication was open by Chairman, Earl Merritt and a dedication prayer was given by Rev. Jimbo Dominey.  Mrs. Dianne Moore spoke on behalf of the Moore family.  Rev. Tommy Mason spoke, remembering the life of Herman Moore.  President and CEO of the Merchants and Citizens Bank, Jeff McGhee commented on the building and how this building would be a valuable asset to all of Telfair County.  Development Authority member, Debbie Bullard described each area of the building, while commenting, “this is what can be accomplished by all working together for a better Telfair County.”  She also thanked Norwood Davidson and his family for the loan of his historical memorabilia.  His family realizes the value Norwood’s historical collection and graciously shares these letters, articles and artifacts.  Chairman, Merritt addressed everyone outlining the intended uses of this building and the value of having this facility, all of which promote the economic growth of the county.
