This year, the Telfair County Health Department will NOT be able to offer the flu vaccine at your child’s school.Instead, we are hosting a school flu clinic at the health department during hours that will be convenient for parents.On December 8, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00, the Telfair County Health Department will host an on-site, flu clinic at our office on Telfair Avenue. You do not need to make an appointment for your child.Simply, complete a Flu Vaccine Consent Form prior to visiting the health department.This form is available at your school, on your school’s website, or by visiting the South Central Health District’s website at www.southcentralhealth.com.Blank copies of the consent form will be available at the health department if needed.If the designated times above aren’t convenient for your family, please see district website for daily clinic hours.
Your local health department will be able to bill the following insurance providers:Medicaid, Peachcare, State Health Benefit Plan (United Healthcare & Cigna), and Blue Cross Blue Shield – Blue Choice PPO (only).If your child is uninsured, underinsured, or if your insurance does cover vaccines and is not listed, the cost is $14.00. Who will need a second dose of flu vaccine in a month?School-aged children 8 years of age and younger, who did not receive a seasonal flu vaccine during the 2010/2011 flu season, will need an additional dose of flu vaccine in one month to be adequately protected against the flu.
